Yes we do accept childcare vouchers and are currently working in partnership with a number of providers. Please speak to Georgina Burden (nurseryadmin@prestbury.cheshire.sch.uk ) for more information.

Does my child need to be toilet trained before starting Nursery?

Every child is unique and will begin the process of toiletting at different times. Although it is not essential for your child to be toilet trained before starting at Nursery, it is helpful if they are aware of the general routine of toiletting such as flushing the toilet and washing their hands. We endeavour to work closely with parents to implement strategies to ensure that we support each individual child.

What is the difference between a School Nursery and a PreSchool?

Our Nursery is different to a Pre School as it is a legal requirement to have a qualified teacher in a maintained Nursery and the Nursery is run by the school, not a separate organisation. The Nursery is staffed by a teacher and two teaching assistants.

Does the Nursery have a uniform?

There is a nursery uniform available (navy tshirt/jumper with school logo) which is available to purchase from the PTA. Although the uniform is non-compulsory we do recommend it.

Does the Nursery provide a snack?

In Nursery, children can access our snack station at any time during continuous provision; they can choose from a selection of fruit or vegetables, milk and water. In addition, the kitchen staff prepare a healthy snack for which we ask for a £1.50 contribution per week, per child.

All children need to have a named water bottle in Nursery

If my child stays all day do I need to provide a packed lunch?

Yes, your child needs to bring a healthy packed lunch with a bottle of water. Please be aware that we have a no nut policy in school.

How do you support a child’s transition into Reception?

As members of the EYFS team, we work very closely with Reception staff and they become familiar faces in Nursery. We strive to ensure every child has a smooth transition into Reception and have many activities throughout the year which aid this, some of which include:

  • Participating in a joint Nativity with Reception
  • Attending whole school worship once a week (Summer term)
  • Often sharing outdoor/indoor areas
  • Headteacher story time sessions
